Business laptop for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14-inch notebook built around an Intel Core i7-6600U processor running at 2.6 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe solid-state drive. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display and integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 suit office applications and video calls. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed.

Connectivity that supports a desk setup

Three USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI output and one mini DisplayPort let you attach monitors, projectors and peripherals without a dock. Gigabit Ethernet provides a wired network link when Wi-Fi is unavailable. An SD card reader simplifies file transfer from cameras or other devices. The integrated 720p webcam handles conferencing out of the box.

Charger and battery included for immediate use

The package supplies the AC adapter and battery so the system can run away from mains power straight away. Windows 10 Home activates on first boot with no extra licencing step. The NVMe drive keeps boot and application load times short while drawing less power than a mechanical disk.

Questions about this item

Does the i7-6600U throttle when the laptop is pushed for long periods?

The dual-core Skylake CPU has a 4 MB L2 cache and integrated HD Graphics 520; sustained loads will hit thermal limits before the 16 GB DDR4 or 256 GB NVMe SSD become bottlenecks.

How loud and hot does the E7470 get during an all-day workload?

With only integrated graphics and a slim chassis, the fan spins up under continuous load; surface temperatures rise noticeably but the 14.0" FHD panel and 16 GB memory stay within spec.

Which cables or adapters do I need to start using the HDMI and mini DisplayPort outputs?

The laptop provides one full-size HDMI port and one mini DisplayPort; you must supply an HDMI cable and a mini-DP-to-DP or mini-DP-to-HDMI adapter for external displays.
