DELL Latitude E7470 i7-6600U 14.0" laptop

This laptop is a 14.0 inch business system built around an Intel Core i7-6600U processor running at 2.60GHz. It comes with 16GB of memory and a 256GB solid state drive. Windows 10 Pro is installed and the screen resolution is 1600 x 900.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Mobile professionals needing a compact 14.0 inch chassis with 16GB RAM for multitasking will find it suitable. Buyers who want more storage than 256GB, a touchscreen, or a higher resolution display should look elsewhere. The 802.11n wireless and three USB ports cover basic connectivity needs.

The specification that decides fit

The 1600 x 900 non-touch screen on a 14.0 inch panel is the defining specification. If that resolution meets your workflow you have the right part; if you need 1080p or touch input this model will not match the requirement.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB SSD in the Latitude E7470, and which step is most often missed?

The SSD slots into the internal M.2 connector; the step most people miss is re-seating the bottom cover screws in the correct order so the chassis aligns properly.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB memory configuration need later?

The two SODIMM slots are both occupied, so any future upgrade means replacing one or both modules rather than adding a stick.

What limit appears first on the Core i7-6600U during sustained workloads?

The processor hits its thermal ceiling under continuous load, causing the Intel HD Graphics and CPU cores to throttle together.
