Latitude E7470 14.0" FHD business laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor at 2.60 GHz with 16GB DDR4 memory. It ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit and a new 240GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. The non-touch 1920 x 1080 display and integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 suit office workflows and mobile professionals.

Upgrade from older dual-core ultrabooks

Replacing a slower dual-core notebook with this 6th generation i7 gives a turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz and a faster NVMe boot drive. The jump is worth it when daily tasks stall on limited RAM or a mechanical disk, because 16GB memory and solid-state storage remove those bottlenecks. Buyers who need more storage or a dedicated GPU will need a different machine.

Straightforward deployment with memory ceiling

Windows 10 Home is pre-installed so the laptop is ready to join a domain or cloud workspace after first boot. The two memory slots are already populated to the 16GB maximum, so no further RAM upgrades are possible. The M.2 NVMe drive can be swapped for a larger unit if capacity becomes tight.

Questions about this item

What M.2 slot key and length does the 240 GB SSD use?

The laptop accepts an M.2 2280 NVMe drive; the installed 240 GB SSD uses that form factor.

Which screw secures the M.2 drive and where do owners often leave it loose?

A single 2 mm screw holds the M.2 SSD at the end opposite the connector; forgetting to tighten it is the common mistake.

Can the 16 GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later?

No — both SODIMM slots are filled and the chipset maximum is 16 GB, so the memory cannot be increased.
