Purpose-built business laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop designed for professionals who need a compact Windows 10 machine with a dual-core Intel Core i7-6650U processor. It ships with 16GB DDR4 memory and a new 1TB SSD already installed. The non-touch 1920 x 1080 display suits office applications and travel workflows.

Thermals and acoustics

Integrated Intel Iris Graphics 540 handles visual output without a discrete GPU, keeping heat and fan noise low during typical productivity tasks. The 2.5 inch SATA SSD has no moving parts, contributing to quiet operation. Power draw stays modest thanks to the 2.20 GHz base frequency and 3.40 GHz turbo on a two-core design.

Deciding specification

Maximum supported memory is capped at 16GB across two slots, so the system cannot be upgraded beyond the factory configuration. Buyers who anticipate needing more RAM should consider a different platform.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 1 TB 2.5" SATA SSD, and what step is often missed?

Remove the bottom cover, slide the drive into the 2.5" SATA bay, secure it with the caddy screws, then reconnect the battery before closing the case — skipping the battery reconnect is the common oversight.

Which component will need replacement first during the laptop's life?

The internal lithium-ion battery will degrade after several hundred charge cycles and is the only user-replaceable part expected to wear out under normal use.

What performance limit appears first when the Core i7-6650U runs at 3.40 GHz turbo for extended periods?

Thermal throttling activates once the cooling solution saturates, lowering clocks below the 3.40 GHz turbo to keep the dual-core processor within safe temperatures.
