14-inch FHD business laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14-inch laptop with a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i7-6650U dual-core processor with a base frequency of 2.20 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz. The system includes 16GB of DDR4 memory and a new 240GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. No operating system is installed.

Who this suits and who it does not

This laptop suits users who need a portable 14-inch device with a full HD screen, integrated Intel Iris Graphics 540, and a fast NVMe boot drive for office applications. It is not for buyers who require a touchscreen, a discrete graphics card, or a pre-installed operating system. It also does not suit anyone needing more than 16GB of memory or additional internal storage bays.

Memory ceiling and NVMe boot drive

The memory is limited to 16GB across two slots with no expansion headroom beyond that total. The single 240GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD provides the primary storage and determines how much software and data can be kept locally without external drives.

Questions about this item

Can the 16GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later?

The system has two memory slots and already supports the maximum 16 GB, so no further RAM upgrade is possible.

What limits sustained performance first, the dual-core i7-6650U or the Intel Iris Graphics 540?

The dual-core processor reaches its thermal ceiling before the integrated graphics become the bottleneck during prolonged workloads.

How loud and hot does the laptop get when running all day?

Under continuous load the cooling fan spins up noticeably and the chassis becomes warm, typical for a compact 14" business ultrabook.
