Compact business laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch HD laptop built around a dual-core Intel Core i7-6650U processor running at 2.20 GHz with a turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a new 500GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed for immediate deployment in professional environments.

Build integration

The system uses two memory slots with a maximum supported capacity of 16GB, so the installed memory already reaches the platform limit. The 2.5 inch SATA drive bay accepts standard SATA SSDs or hard drives for storage expansion. Integrated Intel Iris Graphics 540 handles display output without requiring a discrete graphics card, freeing internal space and power budget.

Sustained workload behaviour

The dual-core processor maintains its 3.40 GHz turbo frequency within the thermal envelope of the 14.0 inch chassis during extended office tasks. The SATA SSD delivers consistent read and write performance for database access and large document handling without the thermal throttling seen in smaller form factors. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit provides long-term stability for managed fleet deployments.

Questions about this item

How long can the dual-core i7-6650U sustain its 3.40 GHz turbo before heat forces it back to 2.20 GHz?

The processor runs at a 2.20 GHz base with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency; sustained turbo duration depends on the laptop's cooling capacity and workload.

What are the fan noise and surface temperatures when the 14.0" HD display and Intel Iris Graphics 540 run all day?

The system uses Intel Iris Graphics 540 and a 1366 x 768 non-touch screen; actual fan noise and chassis temperatures vary with ambient conditions and workload.

Does the 500 GB SATA SSD use the only 2.5" drive bay, so I would need an M.2 slot to add a second drive?

The 500 GB SSD is a 2.5" SATA drive; the chassis also provides an M.2 slot for additional storage if required.
