Latitude E7470 14-inch FHD laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0-inch business laptop with a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor with a base frequency of 2.40 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.00 GHz. The system includes 8GB of DDR4 memory and a new 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. Windows 10 Home 64-bit is pre-installed.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

The Intel HD Graphics 520 integrated GPU handles visual output without a discrete graphics card. The dual-core processor operates at a base speed of 2.40 GHz and can reach 3.00 GHz under load. With 8GB of DDR4 RAM installed across two slots, the platform supports up to 16 GB of total memory for multitasking headroom.

Upgrade path from older ultraportables

This configuration suits users moving from systems with mechanical drives or less than 8GB of memory who want solid-state responsiveness and a 1080p screen. The 1TB NVMe drive provides ample space for local files and applications. Buyers who need more than 16 GB of RAM or a dedicated graphics processor should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How do I install the NVMe drive in the M.2 slot, and what step is often missed?

Insert the drive at an angle into the M.2 connector, secure it with the retention screw, then enable the NVMe controller in BIOS so the OS detects the 1 TB volume.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8 GB DDR4 memory need later?

The laptop has two slots supporting up to 16 GB total; you can add an 8 GB DDR4 module or replace both for the maximum capacity.

What thermal limit appears first during sustained loads on the Core i5-6300U?

The dual-core processor reaches its 3.00 GHz turbo ceiling and then throttles to the 2.40 GHz base clock once the cooling solution saturates.
