Palmrest Overlay for 12-inch Rugged Laptops

This genuine Dell palmrest overlay fits the Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme models 7204 and 7214. It replaces the plastic cover on the palmrest chassis assembly for units that were built without a fingerprint reader. The part includes the overlay and the screen rotation and volume button housing.

Sustained Protection Under Field Conditions

The overlay shields the internal chassis from dust, moisture and repeated impact during daily mobile use. Its moulded plastic construction maintains fit after repeated removal for service or cleaning. The integrated button housing keeps the rotation and volume controls aligned and responsive over the life of the device.

Compatibility Limited to Non-FP 7204 and 7214 Units

This part is only correct for Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme 7204 and 7214 systems that lack a fingerprint reader. Installing it on a model equipped with a reader will leave the sensor cut-out uncovered and the button housing misaligned. Buyers who need a fingerprint-reader cut-out must source the alternate overlay.

Questions about this item

Does the plastic palmrest overlay generate any heat or noise during extended use?

No, the overlay is a passive plastic cover with no electronics, so it produces no heat or noise regardless of how long the laptop runs.

What existing laptop components are required for this palmrest overlay to fit correctly?

It fits Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme models 7204, 7214, 7402 and 7412 that do not have a fingerprint reader and already have the palmrest chassis assembly in place.

Will the screen-rotation and volume button housing on this overlay work with the original buttons on a Latitude 7204?

Yes, the overlay includes the dedicated housing for the screen-rotation and volume buttons, matching the original layout on the 7204 and other compatible models.
