Dell Latitude XFR E6420 LCD Spring Latch

This genuine Dell OEM spring latch replaces the screen retention mechanism on the Latitude XFR E6420 rugged laptop. It secures the display assembly in the closed position and includes the necessary spring component. The part is identified by Dell part number 8N089 and is supplied new.

Critical for screen closure on XFR E6420

This latch is the specific component that holds the LCD panel shut; without it the display will not stay closed on the XFR E6420 model. It is not compatible with other Latitude models or non-rugged E6420 variants. Buyers needing a different screen hinge part or a complete display assembly should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How does the spring latch function once it is installed on the Latitude XFR E6420?

The latch secures the LCD panel in the closed position on the rugged chassis. It engages with the screen assembly catch and the included spring provides the return force so the latch resets after each opening.

What interface does the 8N089 part use to attach to the E6420 screen assembly?

It mounts directly to the existing screw points on the display bezel using the original hardware. No additional connectors or cables are required for installation.
