Compact 12.1" convertible with dual-touch

The Dell Latitude XT2 is a 12.1-inch 2-in-1 laptop built around an Intel U9600 processor running at 1.60 GHz. It ships with 3 GB of memory and a 160 GB SATA hard drive. Windows 7 Professional comes pre-installed, and the chassis includes a fingerprint reader, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for everyday connectivity.

Sustained workloads on a ULV dual-core

The 1.60 GHz ultra-low-voltage CPU handles light office tasks and web browsing without throttle for typical session lengths. Only 3 GB of system memory limits multitasking headroom, so extended compilations or heavy tab counts will push the machine into swap on the mechanical drive. The 65 W adapter supplies enough power for continuous operation while charging the included battery.

Check docking and OS needs before buying

Verify that your workflow can run on Windows 7 Professional, which no longer receives security updates from Microsoft. The bundled docking station adds a DVD-RW drive, so confirm you still require optical media access. Buyers who need more storage, more memory or a supported operating system should look at newer hardware.
