Dell Precision 3560 Mobile Workstation

The Dell Precision 3560 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Core i5-1145G7 processor with four cores at 2.60 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4-2400 memory and a 256 GB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Professional is pre-installed. The HD display runs at 1366 by 768 pixels without touch input.

Sustained thermal performance

The 45 W processor and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 share a compact chassis, so clock speeds will step down during long renders or heavy calculations. Fan noise becomes noticeable under continuous load. The 16 GB memory ceiling limits very large datasets, and the 256 GB drive fills quickly with project files.

Installation and common issues

The laptop arrives ready to use with Windows 10 Pro activated; just connect power and sign in. Optional webcam presence varies by unit, so video conferencing hardware is not guaranteed. Thunderbolt 4 ports require certified cables for full 40 Gb/s throughput, and the HDMI 2.0 output is limited to 4K at 60 Hz. Buyers needing a larger screen, touch input or a discrete GPU should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Precision 3560 get when the Core i5-1145G7 runs at 2.60 GHz all day?

The 15.6-inch chassis uses integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and 16 GB DDR4-2400 memory, so sustained loads stay within the thermal design of a 4.09 kg mobile workstation without discrete GPU heat.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.0 ports on this laptop?

You need a Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 cable for the two Thunderbolt 4 ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery, plus a standard HDMI 2.0 cable for the HDMI 2.0 output.

Will my older USB 3.0 dock work with the USB 3.2 Gen 1 and Thunderbolt 4 ports on the Precision 3560?

Yes — the USB 3.2 Gen 1 port and the USB 3.2 Gen 1 PowerShare port are backward compatible with USB 3.0 devices, and the Thunderbolt 4 ports accept USB-C docks at USB speeds.
