Dell MBA3147RC 146GB 15K SAS Drive

This Dell MBA3147RC is a 3.5-inch internal hard drive with a 146GB capacity and a 15000RPM spindle speed. It connects via a SAS 3Gb/s interface and includes a 16MB buffer. The unit is supplied new with zero hours of operation.

Suits high-IO enterprise arrays

The 15000RPM rotation and 4.5 ms seek time serve workloads that demand fast random access, such as transactional databases or high-throughput logging. Buyers needing larger single volumes or silent operation for desktop use should look elsewhere. The 3Gb/s SAS link also limits throughput for modern all-flash architectures.

Deciding spec: 15000RPM SAS 3Gb/s interface

The combination of 15000RPM rotational speed and the SAS 3Gb/s interface determines whether this drive matches the performance envelope and controller compatibility of the target system. Verify that the host backplane supports 3Gb/s SAS before purchase.
