Dell 146GB 15000RPM SAS Drive

This Dell MBE214RC is a 2.5-inch internal hard drive with a 146GB capacity and a 15000RPM spindle speed. It uses a SAS interface and is supplied in new condition. The drive is designed for 2.5-inch drive bays in compatible servers.

Suited for SAS server bays

This drive fits servers that accept 2.5-inch SAS drives such as the Dell PowerEdge R410, R510 and R515 models. Buyers who need larger capacities or SATA-only interfaces should consider other options. Systems without a SAS backplane or controller cannot use this drive.

15000RPM spindle speed

The 15000RPM rotation speed is the key specification that determines whether this drive meets the performance profile for high-transaction workloads. Verify that the target system supports 2.5-inch SAS drives before purchase.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 146 GB 15 000 RPM SAS model or a larger capacity alternative?

The 146 GB 15 000 RPM SAS drive suits workloads needing fast random access in a small footprint; larger capacities typically run at lower speeds.

What does the 15 000 RPM figure mean once the drive is installed in a server?

It means the platters spin at 15 000 revolutions per minute, delivering low latency and high IOPS for transaction-heavy applications.

The SAS interface is listed as 6 G — what does that cap in practice?

The 6 G SAS link caps the maximum interface throughput at 6 Gb/s, so sustained transfer rates cannot exceed that ceiling.
