DELL MBF2300RC SAS 300 GB 10K RPM 2.5" accessory

SKU CH-A5Z2-D1T3Y MPN MBF2300RC

A 300 GB 10K RPM SAS hard drive in a 2.5 inch form factor with 16 MB cache for server storage

  • 300 GB capacity for enterprise data storage
  • 10 000 RPM spindle speed for fast access
  • 6 Gb/s SAS interface for server connectivity
  • 5 inch form factor fits dense drive bays
  • 16 MB cache buffers burst workloads

Enterprise SAS Hard Drive

This Dell enterprise hard drive delivers 300 GB of storage in a 2.5 inch SAS form factor spinning at 10000 RPM. It is built for server environments that require a 6 Gb/s SAS interface and a 16 MB cache buffer. The drive carries MPN MBF2300RC and is supplied new for compatible Dell server platforms.

Server Storage Upgrade

This drive suits administrators adding nearline capacity or replacing failed units in supported Dell PowerEdge arrays that accept 2.5 inch SAS drives. It is not for laptop or desktop PCs lacking a SAS backplane and controller, nor for buyers who need larger capacities or solid-state performance. Workstation users without enterprise RAID infrastructure should look elsewhere.

6 Gb/s SAS Interface

The single specification that decides fitment is the 6 Gb/s SAS interface combined with the 2.5 inch form factor. Your server backplane and RAID controller must support this exact interface and physical size for the drive to function. Verify the system hardware compatibility list before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the 2.5-inch SAS drive fit in the same drive bay as my older 3.5-inch SCSI disks?

The drive uses a 2.5-inch SAS form factor so it needs a 2.5-inch bay or an adapter bracket; it will not mount directly in a 3.5-inch SCSI bay.

How can I confirm the 10000 RPM spindle is running correctly after installation?

The server BIOS or RAID controller will report the drive model MBF2300RC at 10000 RPM and show a healthy SMART status with no reallocated sectors.

Does the MBF2300RC ship with a mounting tray or SAS cable, or must I order them separately?

Only the bare 300 GB drive is included; a compatible 2.5-inch server drive tray and SAS data cable must be sourced separately.
