Dell MX7000 MX7116N Fabric Expander Module

The Dell MX7000 MX7116N Fabric Expander Module adds I/O connectivity to a PowerEdge MX7000 chassis. It occupies a fabric slot and provides sixteen ports for high-speed server links. The unit ships new with firmware updated and tested by the supplier.

Suits administrators scaling MX7000 I/O capacity

This module suits administrators expanding fabric capacity inside an existing MX7000 enclosure. It does not function as a standalone switch or server node. Buyers needing compute sleds, storage sleds, or different port speeds should look at other MX7000 components.

Questions about this item

Will the MX7116N Fabric Expander Module integrate with my existing Dell MX7000 chassis?

Yes, the MX7116N is designed specifically for the Dell MX7000 modular chassis. It occupies a fabric expander slot and connects to the internal mid-plane, allowing compute sleds in the same enclosure to access external networks through this module.

What indicators confirm the MX7116N module is operating correctly after installation?

After seating the module and powering the MX7000 chassis, check the module's status LEDs. A solid green power LED and an active link LED on each external port indicate the fabric expander has initialised and established connectivity with the chassis fabric.
