Dell NVIDIA L40 ADA 48GB AI Accelerator

This Dell NVIDIA L40 ADA card delivers 48GB of GDDR6 memory for AI inference and training workloads. It is built for professionals deploying large language models, generative AI or high-performance computing tasks in enterprise environments. The dual-width, full-height form factor fits qualified Dell PowerEdge servers. Condition is new with updated firmware.

PCIe x16 300W server integration

The accelerator requires a PCIe x16 slot and a 300W power budget within a supported chassis. Compatible platforms include the R750, R750xa, R7525, R760, R760xa, R7615, R7625 and T560. The DW FHFL design occupies two slots and full height, so verify rack space and airflow. It frees CPU cycles for parallel workloads but needs adequate cooling and power headroom in the host system.

Questions about this item

What limits sustained performance on the 48GB GDDR6 L40 GPU?

The 300W power envelope is the first limit reached under continuous AI or rendering workloads.

How much heat and noise does the 300W dual-width card produce in a Dell R760 server running all day?

It draws 300W continuously, so the server fans must move enough air to dissipate that heat, raising chassis noise proportionally.
