Dell OptiPlex 7040 MT Gaming Desktop

This new Dell OptiPlex 7040 MT tower arrives as a complete gaming desktop. It pairs an Intel Core i7 6700 processor with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe drive. An AMD Radeon RX 6400 4GB graphics card handles visual output. Windows 10 Professional is installed and ready to use.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This system suits players wanting a ready-to-go tower for 1080p gaming at medium settings around 60fps. The included Razer keyboard, mouse and headset finish the setup. Buyers who want higher frame rates, 1440p resolution or more than 256GB of fast storage should consider a different configuration.

The specification that decides fit

The AMD Radeon RX 6400 4GB graphics card determines whether this tower meets your performance target. It delivers playable frame rates at medium detail in most current titles. If your preferred games need more video memory or higher shader throughput, this GPU will be the limiting factor.

Questions about this item

Does the i7-6700 processor need a separate graphics card or does it include integrated graphics for initial setup?

The i7-6700 includes integrated graphics so the system will display an image without the RX 6400 installed, useful for BIOS access or troubleshooting.

Can the RX 6400 4GB run on a legacy BIOS motherboard or does it require UEFI?

The RX 6400 requires a UEFI motherboard; the Dell 7040 MT ships with UEFI so the card works without legacy BIOS support.

How can I verify the 256GB NVMe drive is detected and set as the primary boot device?

Enter the UEFI BIOS on startup and confirm the 256GB NVMe appears in the boot order list and shows the Windows 10 Pro partition.
