Questions about this item

How do I install the X524D power button cable in an OptiPlex 960 or 980, and which step is often missed?

Route the cable through the chassis clips, connect it to the motherboard header and secure the button assembly; the step often missed is latching the connector fully so the switch registers every press.

What maintenance or replacement will the X524D cable need over the life of an OptiPlex 960 or 980?

The cable itself requires no scheduled maintenance; replace it only if the power button becomes intermittent or fails to start the system.
