Dell OptiPlex Gaming Desktop

This Dell OptiPlex tower desktop arrives new with an Intel Core i5-6500 quad-core processor running at 3.20 GHz and 32 GB of DDR3 memory at 1333 MHz. A 1 TB SSD provides the system drive and Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed. An NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 graphics card with 2 GB of video memory adds HDMI and DVI display outputs.

Suited to entry-level gaming and general use

The specification supports titles such as CS GO, Minecraft, DOTA 2 and Fortnite at modest settings. The front RGB lighting panel is controlled by the included remote. Buyers who need higher frame rates in modern AAA titles or a newer operating system out of the box should consider other options.

Graphics card decides fit

The GT 1030 2 GB card determines which games run smoothly and at what detail levels. Its HDMI and DVI ports dictate the monitors you can connect directly. If your workload demands more video memory or newer GPU features, this desktop will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

Does the 32 GB DDR3 1333 memory use standard DIMM slots that I can replace later?

The system uses standard DDR3 DIMM slots, so you can swap or add modules that match the 1333 MT/s speed.

Which component hits its limit first when the GT 1030 2 GB runs at full load for hours?

The GT 1030 2 GB graphics card will reach its frame-buffer and shader ceiling before the Core i5-6500 or the 32 GB DDR3 memory.

How much heat and fan noise should I expect from the tower when it runs all day?

The 65 W Core i5-6500 and 30 W GT 1030 keep total heat modest; the stock tower cooler stays audible but not intrusive during extended sessions.
