Dell P252M 300GB Enterprise Drive

This is a Dell P252M 300GB 2.5-inch internal hard drive built for enterprise workloads. It spins at 15000RPM and connects through a SAS interface with a 6G transfer rate. A 16MB cache supports rapid data access for demanding server applications. The drive carries part number P252M and model identifier HUC103030CS600.

Suited For Mission-Critical Arrays

This drive suits administrators deploying high-performance storage arrays or replacing failed units in compatible Dell PowerEdge servers and external enclosures. It is not for users who need terabytes of bulk capacity, silent desktop operation, or a consumer interface for a standard PC build. The 300GB capacity and 15000RPM spindle target transaction-heavy workloads rather than archival storage.

SAS 6G Interface Decides Fit

The single specification that decides fit is the SAS 6G interface. Your backplane or RAID controller must support this exact protocol and signalling speed for the drive to function. Verify the part number P252M against your hardware compatibility list before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does my system need a 6 Gb/s SAS backplane or controller to use the 300 GB 15000 RPM drive?

Yes — the drive uses a 6 Gb/s SAS interface, so the host must provide a compatible SAS controller or backplane running at that speed.

Will the 2.5 inch 15000 RPM unit fit in the same drive bay as my older 3.5 inch SAS disks?

No — the 2.5 inch form factor requires a 2.5 inch bay or an adapter; it will not mount directly in a 3.5 inch tray.

How can I verify the 16 MB cache and 15000 RPM speed are active after installation?

Check the drive details in your RAID controller BIOS or OS utilities such as smartctl; they will report the cache size and rotational speed.
