Genuine Red Palmrest for Dell 14-Inch Laptops

This original Dell palmrest assembly arrives in red and includes the touchpad, mouse buttons, ribbon cables and power-button board. It fits Inspiron N4040, N4050 and M4040 models as well as the Vostro 1440 chassis. Buyers who need a different colour or a palmrest without the touchpad module should look elsewhere.

Direct-Fit Replacement Using Existing Mounting

The part installs into the original screw locations and connects through the factory ribbon-cable headers, so no adapter or modification is required. Compatibility is limited to the four model families listed; other 14-inch Dell lines use different cable routing and screw patterns.

Dell Part Number NP22X Confirms Exact Match

Only assemblies marked NP22X carry the correct cable pin-out and button-board layout for the target notebooks. Verifying that number against the service tag ensures the replacement will function without further parts.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the red NP22X palmrest or a different colour for my Inspiron N4050?

The NP22X is supplied in red only, so choose this part when you want the original red finish on an Inspiron N4050, M4040 or Vostro 1440.

Once fitted, does the included touchpad circuitry and ribbon cable restore full cursor control and button response?

Yes, the assembly ships with the touchpad sensor, mouse buttons, circuitry and ribbon cables pre-installed, so cursor movement and left/right clicks work immediately after connection.

What connector standard does the NP22X ribbon cable use, and does it limit any trackpad gestures?

The ribbon cable plugs directly into the motherboard header used by the Inspiron N4040, N4050, M4040 and Vostro 1440, delivering the standard two-button trackpad function those models were designed for.
