SKU CH-W4JS-4KRZC

Adds dual SD card slots to a PowerEdge R730 server for redundant boot storage

  • Dual SD module riser adds redundant boot storage for PowerEdge R730
  • Heatsink type card improves thermal management inside the server
  • Part number Pmr79 ensures exact compatibility with R730 systems
  • Lightweight 5.1 gram design minimises chassis load impact

Dell PMR79 Internal Dual SD Module Riser Card

This Dell PMR79 riser card installs inside a PowerEdge R730 server to provide dual SD module slots for internal boot or storage redundancy. It is designed for system administrators who need a dedicated internal media interface without occupying a PCIe slot. The component is supplied new and integrates directly with the server chassis architecture.

Heatsink-type construction

The unit is classified as a heatsink-type assembly weighing 5.1 units, indicating a passive thermal design suited to the R730 airflow path. This form factor supports the dual SD module function while maintaining thermal compliance within the 1U or 2U server envelope. Buyers who require additional PCIe expansion slots or external storage interfaces will not find those features on this module.

Questions about this item

Will the Pmr79 heatsink require replacement during the server's lifespan?

The Pmr79 is a passive heatsink with no moving parts, so it does not wear out or require scheduled replacement under normal operation.

What thermal limit appears first when the PowerEdge R730 runs sustained workloads?

The SD module riser card relies on system airflow; the first limit is the chassis thermal threshold, which will throttle the CPU if intake air or fan speed is insufficient.
