Dell PowerEdge FX2/FX2s CMC Control Module

This Dell PowerEdge FX2/FX2s CMC CTRL Mod (0RFGR) is a new rack-mount server system component. It serves as the chassis management controller for FX2 and FX2s converged infrastructure platforms. The module is intended for IT administrators deploying or maintaining Dell PowerEdge FX2 series enclosures in data-centre environments.

Tested and firmware-updated module

The unit has been tested and its firmware updated prior to shipment. This preparation means the controller can be installed directly into a compatible FX2 or FX2s chassis without additional configuration steps. Buyers needing a different form factor or a controller for another Dell server series should verify compatibility before purchase.

Questions about this item

How often should the chassis air filters be cleaned to keep the CMC module running reliably?

Clean the chassis air filters every three months or whenever the front-panel filter indicator lights, as restricted airflow forces the module fans to spin faster and shortens bearing life.

What is the first limit the CMC module hits during sustained heavy management workloads?

The module reaches its thermal ceiling first; sustained high CPU utilisation on the management processor raises internal temperature until the firmware throttles clock speed to stay within safe limits.
