Compact 1U server with dual Xeon Gold 5118

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rackmount server equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors running at 2.3 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides 12 cores, delivering 24 threads total for multi-threaded workloads. The system includes 16 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory in a two-module configuration.

Suits virtualization hosts

This server fits organisations that need high core counts in a single rack unit for virtualisation, application hosting or database tasks. The PERC HBA330 controller supports SAS and SATA drives across four 3.5-inch bays. Buyers who require more than four drive bays, additional PCIe expansion slots, or higher memory capacity from the outset should evaluate larger chassis options.

Four 3.5-inch drive bays with HBA330 controller

The chassis provides exactly four hot-plug 3.5-inch drive bays populated with fillers, backed by a Dell PERC HBA330 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA storage controller. This bay count and controller combination determines how many drives you can install and which drive interfaces are supported without adding extra hardware.

Questions about this item

How much heat and power should I expect from the two 550 Watt platinum power supplies under full load?

Each supply is rated at 550 W with platinum efficiency, so typical heat output scales with actual draw rather than the maximum rating.

Which rails or brackets do I need to mount this 1U chassis in a standard rack?

The front bezel and ready rails are not included, so you must supply compatible 1U sliding rails for a 14G PowerEdge chassis.

Can I add a PERC RAID card later without replacing the existing HBA330 controller?

Yes, the HBA330 occupies one PCIe slot and a supported PERC card can be installed in another slot for hardware RAID.
