Compact 1U rack server for dense deployments

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rackmount server system built for space-efficient data center deployment. It targets organisations that need dependable processing power for business applications, virtualization, cloud infrastructure and storage workloads while maximising rack density.

Dual Xeon Gold 5118 CPUs with DDR4 ECC memory

Two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors each deliver 12 cores at 2.3 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 32 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four 8 GB modules, providing reliable operation for demanding enterprise workloads.

HBA330 controller with eight 960 GB SATA SSDs

A Dell PERC HBA330 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA storage controller manages eight 2.5-inch 960 GB SATA solid-state drives for high-capacity flash storage. Dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 9 Express enable remote monitoring and administration, while dual 550 W platinum-efficiency power supplies deliver redundant power. Front bezel and ready rails are not included.

Questions about this item

Will the two 12-core Xeon Gold 5118 CPUs hit their 3.2 GHz turbo limit under sustained loads?

Each Xeon Gold 5118 has a base clock of 2.3 GHz and a maximum turbo of 3.2 GHz. Under continuous multi-threaded work the processors will run at or below the base frequency to stay within thermal limits.

How loud and hot does the 1U chassis get with dual 550 W platinum PSUs running 24/7?

The server uses two 550 watt platinum-efficiency power supplies in a redundant configuration. Platinum units waste less energy as heat, so exhaust temperatures and fan noise remain lower than with standard supplies during all-day operation.

Do I need to supply my own rails and front bezel to mount this R440 in a rack?

The ready rails and front bezel are not included with the system. You must provide compatible sliding rails and a 1U bezel to secure the chassis in a standard rack cabinet.
