  • Dual 550W platinum-efficiency power supplies provide redundant power protection

Dual Xeon Gold 5118 1U rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rack server built for dense data-centre deployment. Two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors run at 2.3 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo and provide 24 cores in total. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory support reliable operation for virtualization and business workloads. A PERC H330 controller manages eight 600 GB 10K SAS drives in the front 2.5-inch bays.

Virtualization and database hosts

This server suits teams that need a compact platform for virtualization, application hosting or database workloads where 16 GB of memory and eight SAS spindles are sufficient. Buyers who require larger memory capacity, additional PCIe cards or solid-state storage from the start should consider a different configuration. The 1U form factor limits internal expansion space compared with larger rack units.

PERC H330 with eight 600 GB SAS drives

The storage subsystem centres on the Dell PERC H330 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA controller driving eight enterprise 600 GB 10K SAS hard drives. This combination sets the usable capacity and I/O profile for the workloads above. Two 550 W platinum power supplies provide redundant power for the complete system.
