Dell PowerEdge R440 1U Rack Server

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rack server built for dense data centre deployments. It carries two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors, 64GB of DDR4 ECC memory and a PERC H730P controller with battery-backed cache. Eight 1.8TB SAS drives and dual 550W power supplies complete the chassis.

Suited for Virtualisation and Database Workloads

This server fits organisations running virtualisation clusters, application hosting or database workloads that benefit from 24 cores and hardware RAID flexibility. Buyers needing more than eight drive bays or a larger memory footprint should evaluate other platforms.

Dual Xeon Gold 5118 12-Core Processors

Two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 CPUs run at 2.3GHz with a 3.2GHz turbo frequency, providing 24 total cores for multi-threaded server tasks. The 64GB DDR4-2400 ECC configuration is fixed in this unit.

Questions about this item

What rack depth and rails are needed to mount this 1U PowerEdge R440?

The server uses a standard 1U rackmount form factor; rails are not included, so you must supply compatible sliding or static rails for your cabinet depth.

Will the PERC H730P controller recognise my existing SATA SSDs alongside the 1.8 TB SAS drives?

Yes, the H730P supports mixed SAS and SATA drives and can present them in the same or separate virtual disks across RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60.

How do I confirm the dual Xeon Gold 5118 CPUs and 64 GB DDR4-2400 are all active after first boot?

Open the iDRAC9 Express web interface or the BIOS System Information screen; both will show two 12-core processors at 2.3 GHz and four 16 GB DIMMs running at 2400 MT/s.
