Dell PowerEdge R440 1U Rack Server

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a compact 1U rack server designed for dense data centre deployments. It ships with dual Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors, each running at 2.3 GHz with twelve cores and a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 256 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across eight 32 GB modules. Dual 550 W platinum power supplies provide redundancy for continuous operation.

Ideal for virtualisation hosts

This configuration suits organisations running virtualised environments, application hosting, or database tasks that benefit from twenty-four total cores and high memory capacity. The PERC HBA330 controller supports SAS and SATA drives across eight 2.5-inch bays. Buyers needing more than eight drive bays, additional PCIe expansion slots beyond the 1U limit, or higher memory capacity per module should evaluate alternative platforms.

Dual Xeon Gold 5118 with 256 GB DDR4

The defining specification is the pair of Xeon Gold 5118 CPUs combined with 256 GB of DDR4 ECC memory. This processor and memory pairing determines the server's capacity for concurrent virtual machines and memory-intensive applications. The eight 2.5-inch bays with HBA330 SAS/SATA connectivity set the storage ceiling for this specific unit.
