  • Dual 550 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Express ensure uptime and remote management

Dense 1U rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rackmount server built for space-constrained data centres and virtualised workloads. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors and 128GB of DDR4 ECC memory provide a balanced compute foundation. Eight 2.5-inch drive bays and a PERC H730P controller deliver flexible local storage. Redundant 550W platinum power supplies support continuous operation.

Ideal for virtualisation and dense compute

Suited for teams running VMware, Hyper-V or container platforms that need high core density in a single rack unit. The 12-core CPUs and large memory pool handle multiple concurrent virtual machines. Buyers who need GPU acceleration, front bezel or ready rails included, or more than two 1GbE ports should look at other configurations.

Storage decided by H730P and eight SAS drives

The PERC H730P with 2GB cache manages eight 1.8TB 10K SAS drives across RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through modes. This controller and drive count set the usable capacity, redundancy level and rebuild performance for the workload.

Questions about this item

What does the 128 GB DDR4-2400 memory provide for virtualization workloads?

128 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across eight 16 GB modules supports dense virtual machine consolidation and reliable database caching.

What RAID levels does the PERC H730P controller support for the 1.8 TB SAS drives?

The H730P 2 GB controller handles RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through on the 12 Gb/s SAS backplane.

How much rack depth do the ready rails need for this 1U server?

The 1U chassis fits standard four-post racks; ready rails are not included so you must supply compatible sliding rails for your cabinet depth.
