Dense 1U compute node

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rack server built for dense data-centre deployments. It ships with dual Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors running at 2.3 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency, each providing 12 cores. The system includes 64 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four 16 GB modules.

Suits virtualised workloads

This configuration suits organisations running virtualisation, cloud services, or database workloads that benefit from high core counts and fast SATA solid-state storage. Buyers who need more than 64 GB of memory or require additional PCIe expansion slots should evaluate other platforms.

Eight-bay 2.5-inch SATA SSD array

The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch drive bays populated with 1.92 TB SATA 6 Gb/s enterprise SSDs connected to a PERC H330 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA controller. This storage capacity and interface combination determines whether the server meets your capacity and throughput requirements.

Questions about this item

Will the H330 controller and 2.5" drive bays accept my existing SAS drives?

The PERC H330 12Gb/s SAS/SATA controller supports both SAS and SATA drives, and the eight 2.5" bays accommodate standard 2.5" SAS SSDs or HDDs.

How can I confirm the 64GB DDR4-2400 ECC memory and dual Xeon Gold 5118 CPUs are recognised?

Use the iDRAC 9 Express web interface or the BIOS POST screen to verify 64GB DDR4-2400 ECC registered DIMMs and two 12-core Xeon Gold 5118 processors running at 2.3GHz.

Are the front bezel and rack rails included, or must I order them separately?

The front bezel and Ready Rails are not included; you will need to purchase compatible Dell 1U rails and the optional front bezel separately.
