A compact 1U rack server with dual 16-core Xeon Gold 6130 processors, 32GB DDR4 ECC memory, eight 1.92TB SATA SSDs, PERC H330 controller, dual Gigabit Ethernet, iDRAC9 Express remote management.
The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rackmount server built for space-efficient data centre environments. It targets organisations that need to maximise rack density while running business applications, virtualization workloads or cloud infrastructure. Two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors deliver 16 cores each at 2.1 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo for multi-threaded performance.
Dual 550 Watt Platinum efficiency power supplies provide redundant power delivery for continuous operation. The system includes 32 GB of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory across four modules for reliable workload execution. Integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet handles network connectivity while iDRAC 9 Express enables remote monitoring and administration.
The front panel accommodates eight 2.5-inch drives connected through the Dell PERC H330 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA storage controller. Eight 1.92 TB enterprise SATA SSDs are installed for high-capacity solid-state storage. PCIe expansion slots remain available for additional networking or storage adapters. Front bezel and ready rails are not included with the server.

New to this? Buying server hardware with crypto — what to check, what it costs to pay, and what is never asked for.

Seat the PERC H330 in the dedicated internal slot, attach the mini-SAS cables to the backplane, and insert each 2.5-inch SSD until the latch clicks; the step often missed is enabling the controller in the BIOS before the OS sees the drives.
Under sustained load the 550W units run hot; plan to clean the fan intakes quarterly and replace a supply if the iDRAC9 Express logs a persistent fan-speed or voltage warning.
The 1U chassis airflow becomes the bottleneck first; the dual 550W PSUs and H330 controller stay within spec, but CPU temperatures climb until the firmware throttles the 2.1GHz base clocks.
