1U rack server with dual 16-core Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs, 32 GB DDR4 ECC, HBA330 controller and four 8 TB 7.2K SATA drives
The Dell PowerEdge R440 fits two Xeon Gold 6130 processors and 32GB DDR4 memory into a single rack unit. Four 8TB hard drives connect through the HBA330 controller for high-capacity storage. This configuration targets virtualization, application hosting and database workloads in space-constrained data centers.
Two 550W platinum power supplies share the load and provide redundancy during normal operation. The integrated dual-port gigabit adapter handles network traffic without a separate card. The 1U chassis uses front-to-rear airflow to cool the 16-core processors and 7.2K drives at typical utilisation.
Both CPUs can run all 32 threads at 2.1GHz base frequency for extended periods with the stock cooling design. Turbo up to 3.7GHz activates when thermal headroom allows during burst phases. The HBA330 manages continuous SAS and SATA throughput to the four drives without a RAID battery backup. Memory operates at 2666 MT/s with ECC protection throughout.

Slide each drive into the front hot-swap bays until the lever clicks; the step often missed is seating the carrier fully so the SAS/SATA connector engages the HBA330 backplane.
Replace a supply if its amber fault LED lights; both units are hot-swap, so pull the failed module and insert the new one without powering down the R440.
The 1U chassis airflow hits its cooling ceiling before the CPUs reach their thermal design power, causing the fans to ramp to maximum speed and the firmware to throttle the 2.1GHz base frequency.
