  • Dual 550 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Express provide redundant power and remote management

Compact 1U rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rackmount server built for dense data-centre deployments. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors provide 16 cores per CPU at 2.1 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo for virtualization and cloud workloads. The 256 GB DDR4-2666 ECC memory supports reliable operation across business applications.

Storage controller and drive set

A Dell PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache manages eight 600 GB 10K SAS drives at 12 Gb/s. RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode are supported. This combination determines usable capacity, redundancy and I/O performance for database or storage tasks.

Remote management and power

iDRAC 9 Express enables out-of-band monitoring and administration without an operating system. Dual 550 W platinum power supplies provide redundancy for continuous uptime. The server ships without front bezel or ready rails, so rack mounting hardware must be sourced separately.

Questions about this item

How much headroom does the 3.7 GHz turbo frequency give a 2.1 GHz Xeon Gold 6130 under sustained load?

Turbo reaches 3.7 GHz when thermal and power limits allow; sustained all-core speed stays closer to the 2.1 GHz base depending on workload and cooling.

Does the H730P controller’s 12 Gb/s SAS link limit the 600 GB 10K drives to 6 Gb/s in any configuration?

The controller and drives both support 12 Gb/s SAS, so the link runs at 12 Gb/s; no 6 Gb/s bottleneck is introduced by the H730P.

What clearance is required at the rear of the 1U chassis for the two 550 W power supplies and cabling?

The 1U form factor places both 550 W PSUs at the rear; allow enough depth for power cords and cable routing behind the rack.
