  • Dual 550 W platinum PSUs and iDRAC9 Express enable resilient remote management

Dual Xeon Gold 6130 compute

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rack server built around two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors running at 2.1 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. Sixteen cores in total deliver multi-threaded throughput for virtualization, database and cloud workloads in dense rack environments.

PERC H730P and 1.92 TB SSDs

The PERC H730P controller provides 2 GB cache and 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA connectivity with battery-backed write cache. It supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. Eight 1.92 TB SATA solid-state drives populate the front bays, offering high-capacity flash storage under hardware RAID.

iDRAC9 Express and dual 550 W PSUs

Integrated iDRAC 9 Express enables remote monitoring, firmware updates and power control without an operating system. Two 550 watt platinum-efficiency power supplies provide redundancy in a 1U chassis. Ready Rails and the front bezel are not included, so rack mounting hardware must be sourced separately.

Questions about this item

How often will the H730P RAID controller battery need replacement?

The PERC H730P includes a battery-backed cache module; Dell recommends replacing the battery every three to five years to maintain write-back cache protection during power loss.

What limits sustained compute throughput on this R440?

The two Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs each have 16 cores at 2.1 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo ceiling; under continuous all-core load the turbo drops to the base frequency and the 1U thermal envelope becomes the limiting factor.

What is the power draw and heat output with both 550 W PSUs loaded?

Dual 550 W platinum supplies share the load; at typical utilisation each unit runs well below its 550 W rating, keeping fan speeds moderate and exhaust heat proportional to the actual draw rather than the maximum capacity.
