Purpose-Built 1U Server

The Dell EMC PowerEdge R440 is a compact 1U rack server designed for business, data centre, virtualisation, cloud and storage workloads. Its space-efficient form factor suits dense rack environments where balanced performance and scalability are required.

Workload Fit

This server fits organisations running virtualisation, application hosting, database workloads and cloud infrastructure on Intel Xeon Scalable processors with DDR4 ECC memory. Buyers who need more than eight drive bays or a different storage controller should consider alternative configurations.

Deciding Specification

The PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode, determining which drive arrays and data-protection schemes are possible.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 2.1 GHz or 3.7 GHz turbo speed for my workload?

The Xeon Gold 6130 runs at 2.1 GHz base and can reach 3.7 GHz turbo when thermal headroom allows, so the same processor covers both speeds automatically.

What does 128 GB DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory mean for my applications?

Eight 16 GB modules provide 128 GB total capacity with error correction at 2666 MT/s, suited for virtualization and database workloads that need data integrity.

How does the PERC H730P 12 Gb/s SAS controller limit my storage performance?

The H730P supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through at 12 Gb/s per lane, capping throughput to the controller and the eight 600 GB 10K SAS drives installed.
