Compact 1U rack server for dense deployments

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rackmount server built for business, data center, virtualization, cloud and storage workloads. Its compact design maximises rack density while supporting demanding enterprise applications. Organisations needing efficient space utilisation for growing IT infrastructure will find this platform suitable.

Dual Xeon Gold 6130 processors with 16 cores each

Two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs run at 2.1GHz with a 3.7GHz turbo frequency, providing 16 cores per socket for a total of 32 cores. The system includes 256GB of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory across eight 32GB modules. This configuration targets compute-intensive virtualization and database tasks.

PERC H330 controller and eight 960GB SSDs

The Dell PERC H330 12Gb/s SAS/SATA storage controller manages eight 2.5-inch 960GB SATA solid-state drives already fitted in the front bays. Dual 550W platinum power supplies provide redundancy. The front bezel and ready rails are not included, so rack mounting hardware must be sourced separately.

Questions about this item

What does the 16-core count on each Xeon Gold 6130 mean for a single 1U server?

Each processor provides 16 cores, so the dual-socket configuration delivers 32 physical cores in total, allowing heavy virtualization or database workloads to run concurrently within the 1U space.

How does the PERC H330 controller's 12Gb/s SAS/SATA interface affect the eight 960GB SSDs?

The H330 connects the drives at up to 12Gb/s SAS or 6Gb/s SATA, so the SATA SSDs operate at their native 6Gb/s link speed while the controller handles RAID across all eight bays.

What physical space and mounting hardware does the 1U chassis require?

The server occupies one rack unit of height and uses 2.5-inch drive bays; the front bezel and ready rails are not included, so you must supply your own sliding rails or fixed shelves for installation.
