Silver 1U rack server with eight 2.5 inch drive bays visible on the front panel

DELL

DELL PowerEdge R440 1U rack server 2x Xeon Gold 6130 2.1GHz 16-core 256GB DDR4 8x 1.92TB SATA H330 2x 550W

SKU CH-4GJM-3JQHC

1U rack server with dual 16-core Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs at 2.1 GHz, 256 GB DDR4 ECC memory, eight 1.92 TB SATA SSDs on an H330 controller, dual 1 GbE ports, iDRAC9 Express remote management.

  • Dual Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs deliver 32 cores at 2.1 GHz base clock
  • 256 GB DDR4-2666 ECC memory ensures reliable data integrity for workloads
  • Eight 1.92 TB SATA SSDs provide high-capacity solid-state storage in 2.5" bays
  • PERC H330 controller manages SAS and SATA drives with 12 Gb/s throughput
  • Dual 550 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Express enable efficient remote management

Dense 1U rack server for virtualisation and cloud

The Dell PowerEdge R440 fits a full dual-socket configuration into a single rack unit, making it suitable for data centres that need high compute density. Two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors provide 32 cores in total, while 256 GB of DDR4-2666 ECC memory supports large virtual-machine counts and memory-intensive applications.

Sustained throughput with dual Platinum power

Eight 1.92 TB SATA SSDs connect through the PERC H330 controller at 12 Gb/s, delivering consistent read and write bandwidth for database and storage workloads. Dual 550 W Platinum-efficiency power supplies share the load, keeping each unit in its high-efficiency range during continuous operation and providing redundancy if one supply fails.

Replaces older 2U dual-socket boxes when rack

Organisations running earlier-generation Xeon servers can consolidate two 2U nodes into one 1U slot, cutting power and cabling without losing core count or memory capacity. The jump is worthwhile when the workload fits the eight 2.5-inch drive bays and the single PCIe expansion envelope; buyers who need more drive bays or additional add-in cards should look at larger chassis.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the R440 get with both 550 W supplies running continuously?

Dual 550 W platinum supplies share the load, keeping each unit cooler and quieter than a single supply at full draw.

What rails or cabling must I supply before the 8-bay chassis will mount and power up?

Front bezel and ready rails are not included; you provide the rack rails and standard IEC power cords for the two supplies.

Can my existing SAS tape library connect to the H330 controller alongside the eight 1.92 TB SATA SSDs?

The PERC H330 supports mixed SAS and SATA devices on its 12 Gb/s ports, so the library and SSDs can share the controller.
