Dell PowerEdge R440 1U Server

This Dell PowerEdge R440 is a compact 1U rack server built for dense data center deployments. It ships new with dual Intel Xeon Gold 6130 2.1GHz 16-core processors and 512GB of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory. The system includes a PERC H730P RAID controller with battery backup and eight 960GB SATA SSDs. Dual 550W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Express remote management complete the package.

Suited For Virtualization And Storage

This configuration suits organizations running virtualization, application hosting or database workloads that benefit from high core counts and large memory capacity. The eight 2.5-inch drive bays filled with SATA SSDs provide substantial flash storage in a single rack unit. Buyers who require more than eight drive bays, a different drive interface than SATA, or GPU-accelerated compute density should evaluate alternative form factors.

PERC H730P RAID Controller

The Dell PERC H730P controller with 2GB cache and battery backup determines the storage architecture. It supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode for SAS and SATA drives. This hardware RAID capability offloads parity calculations from the Xeon CPUs and protects cached writes during power loss. Verify that your workload matches these RAID levels and the 12Gb/s SAS/SATA interface before purchase.

Questions about this item

What is the maximum turbo frequency the dual Xeon Gold 6130 processors reach under sustained load?

The two Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs run at 2.1 GHz base and can boost to 3.7 GHz when thermal headroom allows.

How much power do the redundant 550 Watt platinum supplies draw when the server runs continuously at full capacity?

Each 550 W platinum unit delivers up to 550 watts; the pair provides redundancy so one can carry the full load if the other fails.

Which rails or mounting hardware must I already have to install this 1U chassis in a standard rack?

The front bezel and ready rails are not included, so you need compatible Dell ready rails or a generic 1U rack-mount kit.
