SKU CH-WNEZ-D96B0

1U rack server with two 12-core Xeon Gold 5118 CPUs, 128 GB DDR4, H330 controller, eight 2.5-inch bays, dual 550 W supplies

  • Dual Xeon Gold 5118 CPUs deliver 24 cores at 2.3 GHz base and 3.2 GHz turbo
  • 128 GB DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory supports reliable virtualization and database workloads
  • PERC H330 controller enables 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA storage connectivity for flexible drive configurations
  • Eight 2.5 inch drive bay fillers maintain optimal airflow in dense 1U rack deployments
  • Dual 550 W platinum power supplies with iDRAC 9 Express provide redundant power and remote management

Compact 1U rack server for dense deployments

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rackmount server built for space-efficient data centre deployment. It targets organisations that need to maximise rack density while running business applications, virtualisation, cloud and storage workloads. Dual Xeon processors provide the compute foundation for demanding server tasks.

Dual Xeon processors and PERC H330 storage

Two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 2.3GHz 12-core processors deliver 24 threads with a 3.2GHz turbo frequency for multi-threaded performance. The PERC H330 12Gb/s SAS/SATA controller manages up to eight 2.5-inch drive bays, currently populated with fillers. iDRAC 9 Express enables remote monitoring and administration without a separate console.

128GB DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory capacity

The system ships with 128GB configured as eight 16GB DDR4-2400 ECC registered DIMMs for reliable workload operation. This memory amount determines how many virtual machines, databases or application instances can run simultaneously. Buyers who need larger memory footprints for in-memory databases or heavy virtualisation density should verify expansion headroom before purchase.

Questions about this item

How often will the 550W power supplies need replacement?

The dual 550W platinum supplies share the load, so a single unit can fail without downtime and is swapped hot while the server keeps running.

Which component hits its ceiling first during continuous heavy compute?

The two Xeon Gold 5118 CPUs top out at 3.2GHz turbo across 12 cores each, so sustained all-core workloads will saturate processor throughput before memory or storage controllers bottleneck.

What noise and heat levels should I expect with both CPUs loaded 24/7?

The 1U chassis uses high-speed fans to cool the 5118 processors and 128GB DDR4, producing noticeable airflow noise and exhaust heat that requires proper rack cooling.
