Compact 1U rack server for dense workloads

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rack server built for business, data centre, virtualisation, cloud and storage workloads. It fits space-constrained racks while supporting demanding enterprise applications.

Redundant 550 W platinum power supplies

Two 550 W platinum-efficiency power supplies provide redundancy and efficient power delivery. The 1U chassis uses integrated cooling to maintain stable thermals and controlled noise in normal operation.

Dual Xeon Gold 5118 with 256 GB DDR4

Two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 2.3 GHz 12-core processors and 256 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory define the compute capacity. Buyers who need more cores, higher clocks or larger memory footprints should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Dell PERC H730P RAID controller and configure the 8x 2.5" drive bays, and what step is often missed?

Seat the H730P in the dedicated internal slot, connect its SAS cables to the backplane, then use the controller BIOS or iDRAC9 Express to create virtual disks across the 8 bays before installing an OS.

What maintenance or replacement will the PERC H730P battery and the 256GB DDR4-2400 memory need over time?

The H730P includes a battery-backed cache that should be monitored via iDRAC and replaced when its health status degrades; the 8x 32GB DDR4 ECC modules require no routine service but can be swapped individually if a fault is reported.

Which limit appears first when the dual Xeon Gold 5118 processors run sustained workloads at 3.2GHz turbo?

The 2x 550W platinum power supplies define the power envelope; if combined system draw approaches their rated output, the platform will throttle CPU frequency to stay within the available power budget.
