1U rack server with dual 16-core Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs, 32 GB DDR4 ECC memory, PERC H330 controller and eight 960 GB SATA SSDs
The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rackmount server built for dense data-centre deployments. Two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors provide 16 cores each at 2.1 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo. 32 GB of DDR4-2666 ECC memory and eight 960 GB SATA SSDs support virtualisation, cloud and database workloads. Integrated iDRAC9 Express enables remote management.
Replacing a single-processor server or one still using mechanical drives adds 16 extra cores and all-flash storage latency. The jump is worth it when consolidation ratios demand more threads per rack unit and storage IOPS become the bottleneck. The PERC H330 controller handles the SAS and SATA array without a separate HBA.
Network connectivity is restricted to two onboard Gigabit Ethernet ports, so high-throughput clusters will need add-in NICs. The twin 550 W platinum power supplies share the load but cap total draw, limiting future GPU or high-wattage CPU upgrades. No front bezel or ready rails are included.

The server is a 1U rackmount chassis; the front bezel and ready rails are not included, so you must supply compatible sliding rails for your cabinet depth.
Drives slide into the front 2.5-inch bays and connect to the PERC H330 controller; the step often missed is creating the virtual disk in the H330 BIOS before the OS install.
The dual 550 W platinum PSUs are hot-swap and typically run for years; the PERC H330 uses a replaceable RAID battery that should be swapped every 3–5 years to protect write cache.
