Dell PowerEdge R440 1U rack server front view with eight 2.5 inch drive bays

DELL

DELL PowerEdge R440 rack server 2x Xeon Gold 6130 2.1GHz 32GB DDR4 8x 1.8TB SAS HBA330 2x 550W PSU

SKU CH-XGV2-HG1R0

A 1U rack server with dual 16-core Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs, 32GB DDR4 ECC memory, an HBA330 controller, and eight 1.8TB SAS drives in 2.5-inch bays

  • Dual 16-core Xeon Gold 6130 processors at 2.1 GHz base with 3.7 GHz turbo
  • 32 GB DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory for reliable workload operation
  • PERC HBA330 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA controller with 8 x 1.8 TB 10K SAS drives
  • iDRAC 9 Express remote management for simplified server administration
  • Redundant 550 W platinum-efficiency power supplies in a 1U rackmount form factor

Purpose-built density

The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rack server configured for organisations that need high compute density in a small footprint. Two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors deliver 32 total cores for virtualisation, database and cloud workloads. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4-2666 ECC memory supports reliable operation across multiple virtual machines. Dual 550 watt platinum power supplies provide redundancy for continuous availability.

Storage controller match

The PERC HBA330 12Gb/s SAS/SATA controller determines which drives can be used and how they are presented to the operating system. Eight factory-installed 1.8TB 10K SAS drives connect directly to this controller. Buyers who need hardware RAID levels or a different drive protocol must verify controller capabilities before deployment.

Sustained thermal balance

Dual platinum-efficiency power supplies share the load evenly during extended operation, reducing per-unit stress and heat output. The 1U chassis airflow path is designed to cool both CPUs and all eight drive bays simultaneously under continuous 10K SAS activity. Integrated iDRAC 9 Express monitors thermal sensors and power draw remotely so administrators can act before throttling occurs.

Questions about this item

How does the 32GB DDR4 memory perform in a running server?

The 32GB DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory provides error-corrected capacity for virtualization and database workloads across four 8GB modules.

What does the HBA330 12Gb/s SAS controller cap in practice?

The PERC HBA330 connects the eight 1.8TB 10K SAS drives at 12Gb/s each, presenting them as JBOD to the operating system.

What does the 1U rackmount server need to fit in a cabinet?

The 1U PowerEdge R440 occupies one rack unit; front bezel and ready rails are not included and must be sourced separately.
