A 1U rack server supporting up to two Xeon processors with 24 cores each and 1 TB DDR4 memory
The Dell PowerEdge R450 is a 1U rack server designed for edge deployments and lightweight virtualization. It supports up to two Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 24 cores per processor. Sixteen DDR4 DIMM slots provide memory capacity up to 1 TB at speeds of 2933 MT/s.
This platform fits small-business infrastructure and edge virtualization where rack density and dual-socket compute are required. Buyers who need more internal storage bays, higher core counts, or different drive configurations should look at other platforms. The fixed 1U height also limits expansion cards and cooling options for dense GPU workloads.
The chassis offers either four 3.5-inch SAS/SATA bays for up to 64 TB or eight 2.5-inch SAS/SATA bays for up to 61.4 TB. Selecting the bay format sets the maximum raw storage and drive count for the deployment. No other drive form factors or interface types are listed for this model.

Align each processor with the socket keys, lower the carrier gently, and torque the four captive screws in a diagonal sequence to the specified value; skipping the torque sequence can leave uneven pressure and cause boot failures.
The SAS/SATA drives — whether 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch — and the system fans are the primary field-replaceable units; memory DIMMs and power supplies are also designed for hot-swap replacement if a fault occurs.
The 1U chassis restricts airflow, so CPU package temperatures hit their throttle point before memory or storage limits are reached, especially with two 24-core Xeon processors at full load.
