The Dell PowerEdge R530 is a 2U rack server designed for small-to-medium business workloads that require dual-processor performance and flexible storage. It ships with two Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processors running at 2.4GHz and 16GB of DDR4 memory across twelve DIMM slots. The integrated Perc H730 RAID controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across up to eight hot-plug 3.5-inch drive bays.

Compatibility checklist

Verify that your rack provides 2U of vertical space and can accommodate the unit's depth and weight. Confirm the facility supplies power for dual redundant 750W supplies and that your network infrastructure uses 1GbE connections matching the four-port daughter card. Ensure any additional memory modules are DDR4 RDIMMs or LRDIMMs rated up to 2400MT/s and that storage drives are 3.5-inch SAS or SATA models compatible with the H730 controller.

Thermals and power

Dual redundant 750W power supplies share the load, drawing only what the configured components require during normal operation. The 2U chassis uses front-to-rear airflow with temperature-controlled fans that ramp up under heavy CPU or drive activity. Acoustic output is typical for a rack-mounted server in a data-centre environment; the system is not designed for quiet office deployment. Matrox G200 graphics add negligible heat.
