2U rack server with Xeon E5-2630 V3, 8GB DDR4, two 600GB SAS drives and H730 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 8GB
HDD 2 x 600GB
This Dell PowerEdge R530 is a 2U rack server built for workloads that need internal SAS storage and hardware RAID. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 V3 eight-core processor at 2.4 GHz, 8 GB of DDR4 memory, and two 600 GB 15 K SAS drives managed by a PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies and an iDRAC8 remote-management module are included.
The eight 3.5-inch hot-plug bays and support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 make this chassis a fit for databases, backup targets, or virtualisation hosts that rely on spinning SAS media. The single-socket configuration leaves one CPU socket empty, so buyers who need two processors populated from the factory should evaluate other platforms. GPU-accelerated workloads are also a mismatch because the PCIe mix provides three 3.0 slots and two 2.0 slots without dedicated GPU power.
The system arrives with only 8 GB of DDR4 installed across twelve DIMM slots, and the supplier-specification lists a maximum installed capacity of 8 GB for this configuration. Any workload that requires more memory will need additional modules purchased and fitted separately.

Other versions of this model
The R530 has 12 DIMM slots and accepts DDR4 up to 2400MT/s; actual speed depends on the installed Xeon processor.
Yes, the eight 3.5-inch hot-plug bays accept both SAS and SATA drives, so current SATA drives will work alongside the supplied 600GB SAS drives.
During boot, open the H730 configuration utility (Ctrl+R) to confirm the RAID array status, then access the iDRAC8 web interface via its dedicated network port to check system health and firmware versions.
