A 2U rack server with a ten-core Xeon at 2.3GHz, 8GB DDR4, three 4TB SAS drives and a H730 RAID controller, supporting up to 384GB RAM and 80TB storage
Installed Memory Size 8GB
HDD 3 x 4TB SAS
The Dell PowerEdge R530 is a 2U rack server configured with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 V3 ten-core processor at 2.3GHz and 8GB of DDR4 memory. It includes three 4TB 7.2K SAS drives managed by a Perc H730 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 750W redundant power supplies and a DVD-ROM complete the package.
This system suits buyers who need up to eight 3.5-inch hot-plug SAS or SATA drives in a compact 2U chassis with hardware RAID and redundant power. It does not suit buyers who require two processors, more than 12 DIMM slots, or PCIe 4.0 expansion. The installed memory is fixed at 8GB and the single CPU occupies one of two sockets.
The installed Xeon E5-2650 V3 delivers ten physical cores and 20 virtual cores with hyper-threading, defining the maximum thread capacity for this configuration. A second processor can be added to double that figure, but the current build operates with one CPU only.

Other versions of this model
The server ships with one Xeon E5-2650 V3 processor, 8GB DDR4, three 4TB SAS drives, the H730 RAID controller, dual 750W power supplies, DVD drive, power cable and rail kit. Additional CPUs, memory modules up to 384GB total, extra drives up to eight bays, an operating system and iDRAC8 Enterprise or vFlash upgrades are not included.
The system board supports two Xeon E5-2650 V3 processors; the unit includes one ten-core 2.3GHz chip providing 20 virtual threads. Adding a second identical processor doubles cores and memory channels, enabling the full 384GB DDR4 limit across all 12 DIMM slots.
The H730 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. With three 4TB SAS drives, RAID 5 yields roughly 8TB usable with single-drive fault tolerance, while RAID 0 provides the full 12TB without redundancy.
