Dell PowerEdge R540 12-Bay 2U Server

The Dell PowerEdge R540 is a 2U rackmount server system built for expanding business and data centre environments. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors running at 2.1 GHz with 3.7 GHz Turbo, 16 cores each, and 256 GB of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory. A PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache manages twelve 3.5-inch 8 TB 7.2K SATA drives.

Suited for virtualisation.

This configuration suits organisations that need high-capacity internal storage and dual-socket compute in a 2U form factor. Buyers who require front bezel or ready rails included should look elsewhere, as neither is supplied. The integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet adapter and iDRAC 9 Express cover basic remote management and connectivity needs.

Storage controlled by PERC H730P

The PERC H730P 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through modes, with a battery protecting write-back cache. Twelve 8 TB enterprise SATA drives populate every 3.5-inch bay, delivering dense capacity on a single controller. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies provide redundant power for the fully populated chassis.
