SKU CH-MXB3-A0Y46

2U rack server with dual 16-core Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs, 32 GB DDR4 ECC memory and twelve 8 TB 7.2 K SATA drives on a PERC H330 controller

  • Dual Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs deliver 32 cores for heavy workloads
  • 32 GB DDR4-2666 ECC memory ensures data integrity
  • PERC H330 controller manages 12 drive bays efficiently
  • Twelve 8 TB 7.2K SATA drives provide massive capacity
  • Dual 750 W platinum PSUs supply redundant power

2U rack server for virtualization and storage

The Dell PowerEdge R540 is a 2U rackmount server built for virtualization, database workloads and software-defined storage. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors provide 16 cores each at 2.1 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory supports reliable operation for business-critical applications.

PERC H330 controller and twelve 8 TB drives

The included PERC H330 storage controller manages twelve 3.5-inch enterprise SATA hard drives spinning at 7.2K RPM. Each drive delivers 8 TB capacity over a 6 Gb/s interface, creating a large raw storage pool for archives, backups or media libraries. Dual 750 watt platinum power supplies provide redundant power for continuous uptime.

Verify rack depth and rail kit before ordering

This unit ships without the front bezel or ready rails, so confirm your cabinet depth and source a compatible rail kit separately. Ensure the 2U height fits your allocated rack space and that power distribution can accommodate two 750 watt supplies. Network infrastructure should support the dual integrated gigabit Ethernet ports for management and data traffic.

Questions about this item

How often should the 12x 8TB 7.2K SATA drives be checked for replacement?

The 7.2K SATA drives are built for continuous operation; schedule periodic SMART monitoring through iDRAC 9 Express and replace any drive that reports reallocated sectors or predictive failure alerts.

Which component reaches its limit first when the 2x Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs run at 3.7GHz Turbo continuously?

The 750 Watt Platinum power supplies set the sustained ceiling; if combined CPU and drive draw approaches 750 W the system will throttle before the processors hit thermal limits.

What noise and heat levels should be expected from the 2U chassis with dual 750 W PSUs under all-day load?

Dual Platinum PSUs and redundant fans keep exhaust temperatures within ASHRAE A3 limits; acoustic output stays in the typical 2U rack range suitable for server-room deployment.
