A 2U rack server with dual 10-core Xeon Silver 4114 CPUs at 2.2 GHz, 32 GB DDR4, eight 4 TB 7.2K SAS drives on a PERC H330 controller, dual 1 GbE ports.
The Dell PowerEdge R540 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Silver 4114 processors, each running at 2.2 GHz with 10 cores. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across four modules. This configuration targets virtualization, database hosting and file-serving workloads that need multi-threaded compute and enterprise-grade reliability.
Eight 4 TB 7.2K SAS drives provide 32 TB of raw capacity managed by the Dell PERC H330 controller, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 plus pass-through mode. The 12 Gb/s SAS backplane delivers consistent throughput for sequential workloads, while the 7.2K spindle speed limits random IOPS compared with faster drives or solid-state media. The 16 DIMM slots allow memory expansion up to 1 TB for larger datasets.
Remote management is handled by iDRAC 9 Enterprise, enabling out-of-band monitoring, automation and firmware updates over a dedicated network interface. Two 750 W 80+ Platinum hot-swap power supplies provide full redundancy. The dual-port 1 GbE daughter card offers baseline connectivity; environments requiring 10 GbE or fibre-channel will need additional PCIe adapters.
