2U rack server with dual 10-core Xeon Silver 4114 processors at 2.2 GHz, 256 GB DDR4 ECC memory, PERC H740P RAID controller, eight 3.5-inch drive bays, dual 1 GbE ports, iDRAC9 Enterprise.
The Dell PowerEdge R540 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Silver 4114 processors. Each CPU provides ten cores at 2.2 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency. The system ships with 256 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across eight slots. It targets organisations running virtualisation, database hosting or file and application services.
Installed memory uses eight of the sixteen available DIMM slots, leaving capacity to reach the 1 TB maximum when workloads grow. The PERC H740P controller with 8 GB cache supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the eight 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drive bays. No drives are included, so capacity and performance scale with the media you choose.
The iDRAC9 Enterprise licence enables full out-of-band monitoring, automation and remote administration without extra cost. Dual 750 W 80+ Platinum hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy for continuous operation. Rails and a front bezel are supplied for immediate rack installation. No operating system is pre-installed.

The server uses two LGA 3647 sockets populated with Xeon Silver 4114 10-core CPUs at 2.2 GHz. It supports a maximum of two processors, so older Scalable chips must match the socket and platform requirements.
During POST the H740P 8GB SAS/SATA controller initialises and shows its firmware version. iDRAC9 Enterprise appears on the network with its own IP; log in to confirm remote management and hardware health dashboards.
Eight 3.5-inch SAS/SATA hot-swap trays ship installed. No hard drives are included; you must purchase compatible SAS or SATA drives. Rails and bezel are also supplied.
